The curing period is critical

The first 7–14 days after ceramic coating installation are crucial. During this time the coating is curing and must not be exposed to rain, strong sunlight, chemicals or mechanical cleaning. If you do not respect the curing period, you risk the coating not bonding correctly to the paintwork — and the warranty may be voided.

Correct washing is essential

The biggest threat to ceramic coating is incorrect washing. Automatic brush car washes, pressure washers at close range and aggressive shampoos can all damage the coating. Here are the most important rules:

  • Use touchless washing — never brush washes
  • Use a pH-neutral shampoo specifically for coated cars
  • Two-bucket method: one bucket with soapy water, one with rinse water
  • Soft microfibre cloth — never a sponge or rough cloth
  • Dry the car with a clean microfibre towel — avoid air drying

What to avoid

  • Ammonia-based products (e.g. window cleaner)
  • Tar removers and wheel cleaners containing acids
  • Machine polishing (unless you intend to remove the coating)
  • Wax products — they impair the coating's hydrophobic properties

Service visits keep the warranty valid

Most premium coatings require a service visit every 12–24 months. At the service visit the coating is inspected and a booster or top coat is applied. This is not merely recommended — in many cases it is a requirement for the warranty to remain valid.

With Sevv's automatic service reminders, the customer receives an email 30 and 7 days before the service deadline. This ensures the customer books in time and the installer avoids warranty disputes afterwards.

When is the coating "worn"?

A good indicator is the behaviour of water. Does water still bead up in clear droplets and roll off the surface? Then the coating is still active. If water starts to spread more and cling to the surface, it is time for a service visit.
