Yes — clay bar is one of the few professional prep steps that's realistic to do yourself at home with basic tools and an afternoon of patience. Buy a clay bar rated for paint (not wheels, which is a different hardness), a matching lubricant spray, and work in small sections in the shade, never in direct sun.
